Florence was born February 22, 1935, to Leo and Florence Peter in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the eldest of four siblings, with one brother and two sisters. Her family moved to Chicago where she attended high school at Saint Xavier Academy. She attended Saint Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana, for two years and transferred to DePaul University in Chicago to complete her degree in medical laboratory technology. Florence met her husband while in her first job after college. They were married 38 years until his death in 1998, and they had five daughters together.

Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and cherished time spent with her family. She enjoyed volunteering and helping others through her church, ladies club, Meals on Wheels and other charitable pursuits. Florence enjoyed reading, quilting, playing bridge, and making delicious meals for her large family. She always put her faith and family first.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her daughter, Carol and her sons-in-law, Russell and Mike. She is survived by her daughters: Laurie (Randy), Suzy, Mary, Lisa (Edward), eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, with another on the way, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
