IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn C.
Roberts
September 29, 1929 – January 15, 2022
Evelyn C. Roberts, 92, of Clermont, passed away January 15, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harold Roberts, her parents James and Evie Moore, and her brother Jim Moore.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Roberts; son James H. (Jim) Roberts, Jr.; daughter-in-law Mary Turner Roberts; grandchildren James H. (Bo) Roberts, III and Claire Iverson Roberts; many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Evelyn was born in Winter Garden, Fl., where she held a number of executive assistant positions and where she met Harold and began an enduring relationship as Harold's partner in business as well as in life, eventually serving as the bookkeeper and office manager in their businesses Clermont Television and Appliance, Roberts TV and Harold Roberts Realty until her retirement in 2007.
Upon moving to Clermont in the 1950's, she and Harold, along with a few other Christians, began the work that became the Clermont Church of Christ where she was a member until her death and where Harold served as an Elder for twenty-seven years with Evelyn by his side. Evelyn was especially fond of teaching Bible classes of all youth ages. Along with many other charitable works, Evelyn was a long time Red Cross volunteer at South Lake Hospital.
Evelyn was a selfless caregiver who possessed a rare ability to instantly connect with anyone she met; a sense of empathy forged in the fires of trials she overcame with a quiet strength and humble grace; and a generosity manifested in countless secret acts of kindness and continually opening her doors to those who needed a sense of home.
Known for her laugh and contagious smile as well as her compassion for others, Evelyn loved everyone and everyone loved Evelyn.
Evelyn was an extraordinary mother, loving grandmother and
dedicated friend. She taught her children to love everyone no matter their background and to look for the value in all people. She showed her grandchildren the peace found in living life in service to our Lord.
Evelyn left this life with an overwhelming peacefulness, carried to her home on the wings of angels having secured victory through Jesus. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21
