Obituary
Ernest Gilbert, Jr. was born May 28, 1940 to Ernest, Sr. and Opal Worley. He passed away July 30, 2016. Buddy, as he was known to family and friends graduated from Hialeah High School in 1958. He spent most of his childhood in the Miami area and went to Florida State College for 2 years where he met and married the love of his life Gloria Jean Jockell. He served in the National Guard for 8 years and came to live permanently in Lake County in 1974 where he had family that includes the Watson, Meyer, Merritt, Ward, and Knight families. Buddy was a hard-working man. He managed Jai Alai for several years and then after coming to Mascotte he managed Hillandale Farms Egg Processing (now known as Cal-Main Foods) and retired from there in 2012. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Gloria Jean Gilbert; his sons Daniel S. Gilbert, Sr. and Robby R Gilbert; grandchildren Noemi Bartlett, Persilla Bustos, Daniel S. Gilbert, Jr., Rachel MacDowell, Joey Rhodes & great- grandchildren Amaris Valedez, Alonna Bustos, Josh Rhodes, Matthew Rhodes, Nina Rhodes and Cierra Hurd. He was greatly loved and will be missed.
