SKLODOSKY, EMILY DORIS. 86, dedicated and beloved wife of 47 years to Chester L. Sklodosky Sr. and loving mother to her ten children, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025. She was born in New Britain, CT, on March 18, 1939.
She was raised in Middletown and New Britain, CT by her parents Chester and Emily Rochette. Emily attended primary school in Middletown and then went to St. Matthews Lutheran School. She attended New Britain High School and achieved her associate's degree at Central Connecticut State University. She began her career at Stanley Works in New Britain as a secretary. Her first home was in Plainville where she settled with Chester and began raising their children. They later moved to Hebron, CT where they raised the rest of their ten children. It was in Hebron where
she ran a craft shop out of her home and did court stenography from recordings as well as began her entrepreneurial career as a builder and developer. They later moved to East Lyme, CT where she returned to secretary work at the Coast Guard Academy and eventually retired to her homes in Waterford, CT and Minneola FL.
As a devout Lutheran, her first love was God and the church. She cherished every moment with her family. She loved to travel the world and spend time relaxing at the beach. She had many hobbies, including refinishing furniture, drawing and crafts.
She will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She is survived by eight children, daughter Emily Thomas of East Hampton, CT, Sheryl Goodwin and husband Brian of East Hampton, CT, son Todd Sklodosky and wife Kidist of Uncasville, CT, daughter Debra Kelliher and husband Michael of Leesburg, FL, son Gregory Sklodosky and wife Tina of East Hampton, CT, son Kenneth Sklodosky and wife Brandie of Andover, CT, daughter Reneé Ramsey of Minneola FL, and son Chad Sklodosky and wife Jennifer of Waterford, CT, 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband two of her children: Chester L Sklodosky Jr. and Glen Sklodosky.
She also leaves eight siblings: Loretta Rosenberg, Lois Packard, Audrey Koss, Chester Rochette, Victor Rochette, April Schultz, Edward Rochette and William Rochette
Friends are welcome for visitation from 5 to 7:30 PM on Tuesday April 1st followed by a religious service at 7:30 PM.
