IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elsie Mae
Amstutz
October 26, 1933 – September 1, 2019
Elsie Amstutz, a career Missionary in Africa, served with her husband, Harold, for 18 years in Zaire (Congo) and 18 years in Kenya. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, she met Harold at a Youth for Christ meeting in Portsmouth, Virginia where she played the marimba and he played the trombone. She married Harold on June 14, 1953, and accepted the call to the Mission Field. In 1964 she packed up her 3 children, Deborah, David and Scott, to join Harold who was already serving in the Zambia, and traveled to Africa to be a helpmeet and servant to those she felt called to serve. While there she had her last child, Peggy.
Through civil wars and political turmoil, evacuations and life threatening experiences she kept her faith and her trust in Christ. After retiring, she and her husband sang in the choir at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Largo, FL and served on the Missions Committee.
In 2011, they relocated to the AIM Missionary Retirement Center in Minneola, FL where Harold died in March of 2012. Since then she has made it her mission to be an encourager, prayer warrior and enabler to her family and others ad she will be greatly missed.
