IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eloise K
Robitschek
October 6, 1925 – April 22, 2021
Eloise Kitner Bush was born October 6, 1925 in Carverton, a rural small town in the Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania, the second child of 4 children to Judson and Helen Bush. The children were encouraged to go to Sunday School and Church although the parents not so much. After graduating from high school she pursued Nursing studies at Temple University in 1943 where she received her RN certificate in 1946. While working in the Out Patient Department at the University Hospital she befriended the head of the department Harriet Hurst, who asked Mom if she would assist her with Sunday School at church. Mrs. Hurst, who we called Grandma Hurst, then invited Mom to stay over for church service. Mom was convicted that day by the sermon on Revelation 21:8. Mrs. Hurst and the pastor of the church encouraged her to attend Bible School. She called Mrs. Hurst her "Mother in the Lord" because her ministry led Mom to the Lord and His service. She enrolled in Bible Institute of Pennsylvania now called Cairn University in 1948 and graduated in 1951. It was there that she met her future husband of 41 years Jerome "Jerry" Robitschek and receives the call to go to Africa with the African Inland Mission. She went to Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika) October 1952 and married Jerry (who preceded her by a year) on April 20, 1953 at Mwanza. She would spend the next 19 years serving in various hospitals and dispensaries some of which were in the "bush" where she was the only medical officer in the area. The last 21 years of her 40-year service were at Kijabe, Kenya with an emphasis on teaching with occasional duties in the OR (Operating Room) at the AIM Medical Center. She trained many Tanzanian and Kenyan nurses over her years of service. Jerry and Eloise retired in 1992 and moved to Media in June 1993. Jerry died 10 months later in 1994. During her life she was known as a diligent student and instructor in the classroom and an equally zealous worker in the hospital. She loved people and humor. She was a woman of unfailing faith in Jesus Christ and testified to God's Grace to everyone she met. Eloise was a good cook and baker. She learned how to decorate wedding cakes and made them for her nursing students. She was an integral part of the community at Media where everyone loved her. She was relentless with crossword puzzles, Sudoku and jig saw puzzles. She rarely missed Tuesday night game time at the Center and won more often than not. Eloise entered Glory around 3 AM Thursday April 22, 2021 peacefully in her sleep.
Her children Andrew Robitschek, Judy Smith, David Robitschek and Lee Robitschek survive Eloise. If you would like to contact the family please feel free to email Judy at judith_smith_75@hotmail.com.
