Elizabeth Louise Yurigan, age 96 of Windermere and Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 surrounded by her family. Elizabeth ( Betty Lou ) Barnes was born at home on May 12th 1921, to Clarence (Slim) and Gladys (Genevieve Rosecrans) Barnes in Garner, Iowa. Betty Lou graduated Garner High School and graduated Hamilton Business, class of 1939, in Mason City, Iowa. She was appointed the Hancock County Deputy County Recorder in 1940 in Garner, Iowa. On June 5th, 1943 she was united in marriage to Adam Yurigan Jr. in Alva OK. They lived in Garner, Iowa until moving to Mason City in 1962. Betty Lou assisted Adam in running the pros shops thru out his career in golf. She was an avid
reader and enjoyed all types of literature, including the study of genealogy. In Garner, Betty Lou was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Past president of St. Boniface Rosary Society and Past President of the VFW Aux. Member of the Clear Lake chapter NS DAR in Clear Lake, Iowa. Past president of the Mason City, Iowa Chautauqua Study Club. Member of the Treasure Coast Chapter NSDAR and Indian River Chapter National Society Colonial Dames XV11, Vero Beach ,Florida. Elizabeth is survived by her 4 children, Nancy (Gus) Skarlis, Mason City, Iowa and Vero Beach, Florida, Patricia Llamas, Daytona Beach, FL., Lorena (Bob) Amon, Windermere, FL, and Michael (Kay ) Yurigan, Vero Beach, FL. Grand children, Toby(Kim) Llamas, Gus (Pina) Jr. and James Skarlis, Jacob, Adam and Benjamin Yurigan. Great grand children Josh and Noelle Llamas, Giada and Gavin, Carter and Clay Skarlis. She is preceded in death by husband Adam, her parents Clarence and Gladys Barnes and Sister Catherine Ross. There will be no service or visitation.
