Elicedia Vargas Méndez de Alicea falleció en paz el 12 de
febrero de 2023, rodeada de sus seres queridos. Elicedia,
conocida cariñosamente como Elisa o Titi Eli, nació el 30 de
mayo de 1924 en Puerta de Tierra San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A la edad de 18 años, Elisa se mudó a Bronx, Nueva York.
Fue aquí donde conoció a José Enrique Alicea Rodríguez,
con quien más tarde se casaría en 1959. Tres años
después, en 1962, dieron la bienvenida a su hija María a
sus vidas y luego a su hijo Martín en 1971.

Elisa era ama de casa y Católica, le gustaba cocinar, coser y
le encantaba bailar. Gran parte de su tiempo lo pasaba con
su familia y amigos. Una mujer hermosa y cariñosa hasta el
final. Le sobreviven su hija Maria Del Milagro Alicea y su
hijo Enrique Martin Alicea, sus nietos Jenniffer, Charleen,
Nelson, Brian y Ricky, y sus 11 bisnietos. Fue una gran
madre, hermana, cuñada, tía, comadre y amiga. Que
descanse en paz y este por siempre en nuestros corazones

Elicedia Vargas Mendez de Alicea passed away peacefully on
February 12th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Elicedia
who was affectionately known as Elisa or Titi Eli, was born on
May 30th, 1924, in Puerta de Tierra San Juan, Puerto Rico.

At the age of 18, Elisa moved to Bronx, New York. It was here
that she met Jose Enrique Alicea Rodriguez – who she'd later
go on to marry in 1959. Three years later in 1962 they
welcomed their daughter Maria into their lives and then their
son Martin in 1971.

Elisa was a homemaker and a Catholic who enjoyed cooking,
sewing, and loved to dance. Much of her time was spent
around family and friends. A beautiful, loving, and comforting
woman until the very end. She is survived by her daughter
Maria Del Milagro Alicea and her son Enrique Martin Alicea,
her grandchildren Jenniffer, Charleen, Nelson, Brian, and
Ricky, and her 11 great-grandchildren. She was a great
mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and a loving wife. May she
rest in peace and forever be in our hearts.
