IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elaine W.
Vick
January 18, 1933 – November 20, 2023
Elaine W. Vick
Elaine Williford "Buggy" Vick, 90, of Winter Garden, FL passed away surrounded by her family the evening of November 20, 2023.
Born January 18, 1933, in Tampa, FL to David Wilbert "DW" Williford and Nana Reece Williford, Elaine resided in Linden, FL along with her siblings Geneva, Rhea, Kay and Nedra (Cracker); and later in Groveland, FL. Elaine excelled scholastically in school and was very active in sports. She also mastered the art of shorthand, which she often used to the day she passed. Elaine graduated from Groveland High School in 1951 and stayed in contact with many classmates through reunions held for alumni. She grew up a member of Edge Methodist Church in Groveland.
Elaine married her late husband, Edward "Ned" Vick in 1975. They resided in Winter Garden where they owned and operated Vick Realty for many years. Elaine was great friends and later business partners with Mary Brasher of Four Seasons Real Estate as well as Julia Faye Rogers of Julia Faye Rogers Realty. She remained passionate and worked full-time in real estate well into her 80's while maintaining an active real estate license to the end. She was revered by her peers both in West Orange and South Lake Counties for her class and knowledge in the real estate business. At the time, she was also the youngest appointed president of the Eastern Star, Lake County Chapter.
Elaine and Ned were members of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden. She was later a member of The Church of Messiah, and Father Tom was a dear friend. Ned, Elaine, and family also spent a large amount of time at their condo in Boca Grande, FL spending countless hours hunting for seashells and sharks' teeth, sunbathing, and floating in the Gulf, often times with a martini in hand.
Elaine is survived by her children Vici Winn-Hammock, Jamie Kaye Cross, Kelly Vick Pounds, John Vick, and Niece Peggy Abraham; grandchildren Lynn, Kelly, Josh, Jeanine, Jeremy, Meredith, Rebecca, Michael, Cannon and Parker; and greatgrandchildren Colbey, Micheala, Skylar, Finley, Graham, Nicholas, Tobi and Julia, as well as many extended family and friends that were dear to her.
Her greatest *passion* was for her family. Elaine was the matriarch and strong rock for not only immediate family, but for nieces and nephews whose parents had preceded her in death. Her self-appointed purpose was to care for and love others.
One of her favorite days to spend with family was Thanksgiving. It was her special day and her favorite holiday. She loved the opportunity to gather all of her loved ones together and give thanks, share memories, and make new ones. She orchestrated the meal and spent countless hours in the kitchen making sure it was perfect. In fact, one of her last "bucket list" items was to spend one last Thanksgiving together. Elaine passed November 20th, just three days prior to Thanksgiving 2023, but her wish was granted as family gathered in celebration of her life.
She was able to say her last goodbyes to everyone she loved, whether in person or by phone, which was truly a blessing. She peacefully passed surrounded by 16 of her loved ones. Elaine "Buggy" Vick leaves behind a legacy of love with all she touched.
Elaine made this last trip home for the holidays from Decatur, GA with her loving companion, Bob Jokl. She resided in Decatur with Bob whom she loved dearly for the last 7 years, and they were often surrounded by his children Judy, Richard, Bonnie, Bob, Jeff and Tim along with grandchildren.
Elaine, "Buggy", Mom, Grandma, Gigi, and Oma, as she was called by those who loved her, will be deeply missed by family and friends. We have comfort in knowing she's now with those she loved and lost before her, and most importantly with God. We will carry on her legacy of unconditional love. As she would say, "We love you harder than thunder can bump a stump."
