In Loving Memory of Edward "Eddie" Velez

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward "Eddie" Velez, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday August 1, at the age of 78.

Born on October 26, 1947, in The Bronx, New York, Eddie's life was one of service, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. Throughout his life he called New York, Puerto Rico, Ohio, and Florida home, making lasting friendships and leaving a positive impression everywhere he lived.

Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that reflected his dedication and patriotism. Following his military service, he spent much of his career working as an HVAC electrician and refrigeration tech, where his remarkable skill, work ethic, and ability to fix just about anything earned the respect of everyone who knew him.

When he wasn't working, Eddie found joy in building and creating. He loved woodworking, tackling projects around the house, and spending time working on automobiles. If something was broken, chances are Eddie could repair it or improve it.

Eddie was a man of strong convictions and a caring heart. He could be stern when the moment called for it, but beneath that exterior was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Family gatherings were always brighter with Eddie's playful humor. Whether he was saying, "Up your nose with a rubber hose," "Stick a sock in it," or reminding someone to "Wait until the shoe is on the other foot," he had a way of making people smile. His sharp sense of humor stayed with him throughout his life and remained a part of who he was until the very end.

Eddie kept a personal and steadfast faith, finding comfort and strength in his Catholic beliefs throughout his life.

Above all, Eddie's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Milagros "Millie" Velez; his children, Melissa, Ramona, Malinda, and Edward Jr.; cherished grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, three sisters, Norma, Sara and Gladys,

along with many loving family members Rita, Erick, Sean, Tim, Manuel and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Eddie's life was one of service, craftsmanship, laughter, and love. The lessons he taught, the things he built, the jokes he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A military honors burial will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, where Eddie will be laid to rest with the honor and gratitude befitting a United States Air Force veteran.

Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we find comfort knowing his legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply.

He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
