Edith Merritt English, 92, Clermont, passed away November 9, 2012. She was born January 17, 1920 in Carters Island, FL daughter of Oliver Ivan Merritt & Roxie Ollie Carter-Cureton. A lifelong Florida resident, she retired from the American Red Cross at Homestead Air Force Base after 35+ years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clermont. Her husband of 66+ years, Alfred G. English, who referred to her as his "million dollar doll" who he found in a dime store, preceded her in death on February 27, 2006. Also preceding her in death were 4 siblings. Surviving is her sister Fannie Kirby of Orange City; nieces & nephews including special niece Cecile "Bobbi" Holmes of Clermont & cousins.
The funeral service for Mrs. English will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in the Becker Chapel. Burial will follow next to her beloved Alfred in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church.
