Obituary

Eddie Hall Saunders, 77, went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2017, in his home in Montverde, Florida. The celebration of his life will be held July 29 at 11 am at Green Cove Springs and his ashes spread in the St. Johns River.
Ed was born in Bainbridge, Georgia to Tracy and Wynette (Turner) Saunders. He grew up in Green Cove Springs, where he became a member of the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout. He also served as a Page in the US Congress. He graduated from Clay County High School where he was elected President of the Student Body and voted most-talented.
He then attended Georgia Military College and Georgia Southern College. He then was accepted into Naval Flight Training School, where he learned to become a Naval Aviator and achieved his professional goal of becoming a pilot. After the Navy, he became a pilot for National and Pan American Airlines, and achieved the rank of Captain.
After retiring from the airlines, he studied at Oxford University before completing a Master's program at and Sotheby Institute of Art. He had a real entrepreneurial spirit, he bought and sold real estate, owned a bed-and-breakfast, an antique shop, and a plant nursery.
Ed was preceded in his death by his parents, Tracy and Wynette and brother Tracy Saunders Jr. He is survived by his son Mark and wife Kim Saunders (Montverde, Florida) and daughter Jennifer Mairot (San Antonio, Texas), and five grandchildren- Forrest Saunders, Devan Mairot, Amber Saunders, Chandler Saunders, and Madison (Mairot) LeBar, and great granddaughter Gabriella Rose Saunders. He was a member of Montverde Methodist Church and served in their food pantry. He was a dedicated Father, Gramps, and Great Granddad.
He lived out the last days of his life with a renewed relationship with the Lord and others. He never met a stranger and he always had a story to share. He loved children and dogs and always had a treat to give them. Ed was a lifelong learner; reading the Bible, looking up words in the dictionary, doing brain puzzles in the newspaper, writing lists, taking a computer class at the local library, and was a garage sale extraordinaire! He was always whistling a tune as he went about his day. We will miss him and his melodies.
Until we see you again, all our love!

Psalm 34
I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the LORD, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The LORD will rescue his servants;
no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
