Earl Adams Hanson, Clermont, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 on his 80th birthday at South Lake Hospital. He was born October 17, 1931 in Boyle, Mississippi son of James Sam Hanson & Evie Kelly Hanson. He retired from the US Army after serving in Korea, three tours in Vietnam and was present at the battle at Hamburger Hill. Throughout his career he was stationed in Japan & Thailand, was an Army Airborne Ranger; taught induction basic/physical training at Fort Jackson, Fort Leonard Wood and West Point. Upon retirement in 1973 he relocated to Central Florida where he was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando. Surviving is his wife Linda Marie Tebay Hanson; children Scott (Anne) Hanson, Oviedo; Brett (Julie) Hanson, Orlando & Michelle (Mark) Hatcher, Nashville, TN; step-daughters Emily (Nelson) Velez, St. Cloud & Susan (Trey) Jordan, Thomaston, GA; 13 grandchildren; & siblings Betty (Jim, dec.) Thomas, Orlando; Wayne (Ann) Hanson & Marion Hanson all of Lithia Springs, GA & Jreda (Bill) Dawson, Colorado Springs, CO. His siblings Walter Hanson, Howard Hanson, John Hanson & Marie Dillard preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 21, 2011 in the Henry Chapel at First Baptist Church of Orlando. Rev. Dr. Charles Bell will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the funeral home.
