March 17, 1930 – January 22, 2020
Dwight Turner Holman 89 of Clermont, Florida went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday January 22. On 03/17/1930 in Todd N.C. Claude and Gertrude Holman were blessed with a baby boy, Dwight. Dwight grew up in the mountains of Todd N.C. and at the age of 18 on Christmas Eve 1948, married Mary Lois Holman (Carlton) of Lenoir, N.C. In 1952 they moved to Newport New, Virginia where Dwight was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. until his retirement in July 1992. Dwight was a Supervisor in the steel fabrication department when he retired. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing, water skiing and golfing. His greatest joy was to take his little girl, Patty, around and show her off. Dwight was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed refurbishing old cars.
After retirement he and Mary moved to Clermont, Florida in 1992 where he worked part time at Florida Auto Auction and Wal-Mart. Dwight loved to take care of his rose bushes and cut fresh roses to give to Mary and Patty. His granddaughter and great grandsons were the love of his life. He was such a kind, gentle man and full of life and a very deep thinker. His legacy of love, humility and service to others will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Dwight was proceeded in death by his two brothers, Howard William Holman, and Roy Bruce Holman. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois (Carlton) Holman, sister Betty Ruth Hawkins, daughter Patty Jean Cary (Ernie), granddaughter, Nicole Barnett (Reese), great grandsons, Chandler Barnett and Carson Barnett.
