Douglas Edmund Palen, also known as Doug, passed away on July 14, 2023, at the age of 67 in Clermont, FL. He was born on April 10, 1956, in Tuxedo, New York. Doug was a Christian man who cherished his faith. He had a deep love for fishing and camping, often enjoying these activities with his beloved wife Karen at Sebastian Inlet. Doug was also a dedicated fan of the Orlando Magic NBA basketball team.
Doug is survived by his sons, Douglas Palen and Ian Palen, as well as his five grandsons and one granddaughter. He also leaves behind two brothers and one sister. Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Turner, his mother, Colleen D Henry, and his father, Gilbert Robert Palen.
Doug graduated from Maynard Evans High School in Orlando, FL. He then went on to serve in the US Marine Corps for six years, proudly dedicating himself to his military duties.
In his free time, Doug enjoyed various hobbies including fishing, camping, soccer, basketball, and softball. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests.
A military ceremony will be held in honor of Doug's service at Florida National Cemetery on August 18, 2023, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the
Cancer Society
, a cause that was close to Doug's heart.
Doug Palen will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His memory will be cherished forever.
