Dorothy Welper, 100 years old, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2020.  She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 14, 1920.  Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan when she was young and she graduated from Northeastern High School  where she was a competitive swimmer.    The family moved to Clermont, Florida in 1945.

Dorothy was the matriarch of the Welper family!  She managed the family business, Welper Laundry and Rental in Leesburg, Florida until her retirement in the 1974.  They served the local community as well as corporate accounts.  She also managed the family's citrus business with groves throughout Groveland.   She was a devout member of her church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, Florida where she chaired the women's gild, bingo and the rummage sale that raised money for local charities.  She was proud to gift the church with the alter cross as well as many other religious artifacts and vestments for the church.   Dorothy was an avid reader and loved to travel.  She was a real dog lover and her favorite dogs were Whitey and Magic.  She was greatly loved by her family and friends!

Dorothy's five siblings have all predeceased her.  She is survived by her nephew, Dale (Rosanne) Welper of Orion Township, Michigan,; niece, Carole (Alex) Sorokin of Westport, Connecticut; niece Susan Aicher of Lady Lake,  Florida; two great nephews, Nicholas Sorokin and Brenden Welper and  two great nieces, Lyndsey Welper and Catherine Sorokin.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Dorothy's name can be made to the Central Florida Humane Society, P.O. Box 121504, Clermont, FL 34712-1504.
