Obituary

Dorothy Kathleen 'Kathy' Johnson, age 74, was called to meet the Lord on February 4, 2025.

She was born on February 20, 1950 to Ernest and Elizabeth Barineau of Tallahassee,Florida.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jerry Johnson of Groveland, FL., son Keith Johnson of Orlando, FL., daughter Brandy Johnson-Scharpf of Groveland, FL.

Grandchildren: Jack Johnson of Windermere, FL., Sydney Brittenham of Groveland, FL., and Lucas Johnson of Orlando, FL.

Sisters: Marilyn Brown of Tallahassee, FL., Edress Harllee of Tallahassee, FL., Sharon Abbott of Cairo, GA., and Brenda Johnson of Crawfordville, FL.

And the family pets which she so dearly loved: Bimini, Palmer, and Teddy.

Kathy graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee in 1968 and was married that same year. She dedicated the rest of her life to becoming the best possible mom she could be. She succeeded with flying colors. In 1985 the family moved to central Florida and eventually settled in the Clermont area. For 25 years she was the office and business manager of her Olympic daughter's gymnastics academy, Brandy Johnson's Gymnastics in Clermont.

Kathy derived her sense of 'self' from family. Always second, her happiness was not that of physical possessions, but of a connection with loved ones. Strong in will, Kathy fought more than her share of life's challenges but was never without a smile. Her courage and strength obvious until the end.

Kathy was of strong Christian faith and attended the services of Real Life Christian Church of Clermont. Through her many contacts, she was able to minister and show her loving heart, generosity, and wisdom to others.

As we say our goodbyes to Kathy for her time on this earth, we turn our eyes and hearts to the word of God through the Apostle Paul: 2nd Timothy 4:7-8.

'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved his appearing'
