Doris was born in Springfield, IL  daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Layendecker. She married George Lewis on December 14,1946. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm that they owned before moving to Orlando, FL in 1960. In the years ahead she worked several jobs including nurse assistant in the pediatric ward. She changed careers later in life to Paraprofessional at Orlo Vista Elementary for OCPS. She loved her job and her students.  She retired after 15+ years. They moved to Clermont.
