Donnie Eugene Sewell, 80, of Groveland, FL passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont.
Donnie was born on July 26, 1938 in Orlando, FL, son of the late Auby and Roxanne Sewell. He moved with his family to Groveland in 1946, graduating from Groveland High School where he played football, baseball and basketball, becoming an all-conference athlete.
He married his high school sweetheart Betty (nee Williams) in 1959, celebrating almost sixty years of marriage.
Donnie was a farmer, growing watermelon and squash, as well as helping with citrus harvesting for many local growers.
He loved to hunt, fish and play a game of cards.
Donnie also enjoyed vacationing at New Smyrna Beach with his family and his greatest prizes were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He loved to tell stories and share jokes and laugh.
Donnie was adored by all and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Betty; son, Stephen (Rita) Sewell; daughter, Donna (Roy) DuBois and son, Dan (Marilyn) Sewell all of Groveland;
seven grandchildren, Blake (Carrera) Allred, Stacy (Cameron) Sewell, Logan (Melissa) Allred, Carly (Cory) Mikell, Danielle (Petey) Bingham, Tanner (Ana) Allred and Clint (Shahla) Sewell; 8 great grandchildren, Bella Allred, Keaton Allred, Catalina Allred, Kennedy Allred, Maverick Allred, Quinn Bingham, Leonidas Allred and Nixon Bingham and his sisters, Gerry (Benny) Locken and Drinda Strawbridge.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Sewell and Randall Bennett.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials in Donnie's name to the First Baptist Church of Groveland or Cornerstone Hospice, specifically the Mike Conley Hospice House.
