Donald Dohner passed away on April 13, 2015 at Health Central Park in Winter Garden, Florida. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 806 West Minneola Avenue in Clermont, Florida. The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, with visitation with the family from 2:00-3:00.
Born in 1929 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Don grew up in Philadelphia. He graduated from Haverford Prep School, and then attended Duke University, where he met his wife, Patsy. After graduation with a degree in Chemistry, he attended North Carolina State University where he majored in Textiles. He was a man of many talents, working in chemical sales, as a banker, a stockbroker and a business owner. He and his wife owned an interior decorating/ upholstery business in Boca Raton, Florida for many years.
In 1986 Don and Patsy retired and moved to Orlando to be closer to their oldest daughter, Karen. When Karen and her husband, Curt Hall moved to Clermont in 1992, Don and Patsy followed, living with them on Lake Louisa Road. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Jennabelle Dohner, his older brother Harold, who was killed in a training accident during World War II, and his wife, Patsy, who passed away from cancer after 49 years of marriage. Survivors include his three daughters, Karen (Curt) Hall, Patricia (Mel) Hope of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sandy (Dave) Edwards of Huntsville, Alabama, and eight grandchildren: Kristy (Mike) Cipolla, Stephany Hall; Mallory, Henry, Bobby and Patrick Hope; and Megan and Ashley Edwards.
