Donald Mack Barker died Sunday, March 11, 2018 on his 75th birthday in Orlando, Florida. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Melody; sons Don Jr, Sean (Jennie), and Jason (Erica). He also leaves behind 5 granddaughters who were his world: Amber, Cheyenne, Meghan, Isabella, and LilyAnne.
He was born March 11, 1943 to Mozell and Estilene Barker and had 5 siblings who all preceded him in death.
Don was challenged by his parents at a very young age to strike out on his own and provide for himself. He left school at the age of 14 and met that challenge each and every day of his life. He earned his GED in his 20's and was a firm believer that knowledge was the best steward in life. Don had an enterprising and adventurous spirit that manifested in the numerous careers he embarked on, finding new ones after mastering the previous career.
The trucking industry soothed his wandering spirit the most, as he spent nearly two decades traversing this country. He then became one of the most sought-after health and safety specialists in the state of Nevada. After retiring from that career field after 15 years, he returned to the trucking industry, but this time as a fleet owner. Don could always find the solution to a problem, never met a stranger, and wouldn't let you leave his presence until he made you laugh.
Don was surrounded with love and family as he passed and as he requested there will be no funeral services. One of Don's favorite past-times was playing Santa at different events, to honor him we request donations to Toys for Tots.
