DOLORES MAE VANDER MEER



Dolores  Mae Vander Meer, 84 went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2012. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1928, the daughter of Garrett Nicholas Mastenbrook and Marie Elaine DeBor Mastenbrook. In 1947 she married Jacob Martin Vander Meer, they have shared 65 wonderful years together. Dolores will be greatly missed by her three sisters, Shirley Mastenbrook, Idalee Huizenga, & Jane Milam. She is preceded in death by her brother, Butch Mastenbrook. She was a loving & devoted mother to her sons, Terry Vander Meer (Pati), Tim Vander Meer (Kaye), & daughter, Shirlee Young (Jeff). The special love she had for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family will be treasured forever. Dolores enjoyed  antiques and was the owner of Antiques Etc. where she was an antique dealer, collector and appraiser. She also enjoyed painting and was an award winning oil painter. She was always doing for others and served her community well as a volunteer with Meals On Wheels, Pink Lady at the Hospital and Hospice. She was a member of the Clermont Garden Club and won many ribbons for her floral arrangements. She was an active member and the first female Elder at the South Lake Presbyterian Church where she helped with Bible school, Youth Group Meetings, Ladies Day Out, Sunday School, and Ladies of the Church. Dolores had many cherished friendships in Clermont and elsewhere. The life she lived was of grace, dignity, gentleness, & patience. The love and generosity she showed to all will be forever remembered.



A time of celebration will be held at South Lake Presbyterian Church, 131 Chestnut Street, Clermont on Saturday, September 8, 2012 with visitation at 10:00 AM , service to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Clermont. Memorial gifts can be made to South Lake Presbyterian Church. Arrangements provided by Becker Funeral Home, Clermont. www.beckerfamilyfuneral.com
