He was born September 29, 1944 in Pine Bluff Arkansas. He was the son the late Lee Otis Caldwell and Inez Duncan Caldwell. He was also preceded by two sisters; Diane Smith and Joyce Elmore and two brothers Jimmy Wayne Caldwell and Everett Caldwell.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clermont, Florida and a Proud Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served on the Helicopter Anti-Submarine.
His survivors include his wife, Judith Ann Davis Caldwell who was the love of his life. They fell in love when she was 15 years old but did not see or contact each other until 30 years later. They were married for 26 years. Dewey is survived by two daughters; Christina Caldwell Harrison (married to Cecil Harrison) and Cynthia Caldwell Warren (married to Cary Warren). He loved his two girls and talked about them all the time. He had two grandchildren; Erica and Creed Brown along with one great grand-daughter
Kinsley Brown.
Dewey's extended family included two step-daughters; Jennifer Lynn Thomas and Jessica Rene' Tripod Cranmer (married to Michael Cranmer). He loved these two young women as if they were his own and they were there in his greatest time of need. His grand-son Robert Michael Thomas III was the biggest joy and encouragement in life. He spent years watching him play soccer, run track and became part of a large soccer family that knew him as Poppa.
Dewey was a BIG Razorback football fan. He enjoyed tinkering with tools, planting and digging in the flower beds and building bird houses. He made sure the American flag was flying high and correctly in his front yard. He was a big believer in God, Country and Christianity. He served as a deacon in the church for many years. He taught us to love God and to always put God first in your life.
