Deniece Gayle Ramsey

December 14, 1938 - December 29, 2021

Deniece Gayle Ramsey of Clermont, Florida passed away on December 29, 2021, at the age of 83 years.

Gayle was born December 14, 1938, in Morven, Georgia, the daughter of Agnes (Godwin) Craven and W.W. Craven.

Gayle graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1956, where she was an active member of the Senior Girls Club, the Future Nurses Club, and an officer of the Latin Club. After high school, she married Robert Irving Stanford and raised their six children - Steven Robert, Michael Irving, Linda Gayle, Cynthia Deniece, David Paul, and Wanda Lee.

Gayle began working in the laboratories of Roger Williams Hospital, in Rhode Island, as a Cytology Lab Technician while attending college to obtain her degree as a Registered Nurse. She graduated with Honors and was inducted in Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing as a member of Delta Iota, from Hampton University, in 1986.

Immediately after earning her degree, Gayle and Bob moved to Germany, living in Stuttgart, Bamberg, and Kitzingen.  In Bamberg, Gayle served as a Chemical Dependency Counselor for the Department of Defense, Army. She also served as a Community Health Nurse for the Department of Health in Columbia, S.C.

Gayle explored the continent and beyond, which solidified her love of travel and curiosity for different cultures, gathering many, many mementos along the way. She loved collecting  German Crystal, Polish Pottery, Turkish Rugs, and Egyptian Jewelry, to name a few. It's also where she honed her prolific photography skills, snapping beautiful photos documenting her many travels.

Upon retirement in 1998, Gayle and Bob moved to Clermont, Florida to settle in Kings Ridge, Wellington. There she participated in many clubs and social organizations. She was one of the Founding members of the Dining Delights club and served on the Kings Ridge Women's Club, The Red Hat Society, The Stamping Club, and other social community activities.

In 1999, she suffered the loss of her beloved husband of 43 years, Robert Irving Stanford. Gayle remained active in her community service and clubs where she met and later married Charles Ramsey in 2002. She introduced her love of travel to Charles as they explored China, Hawaii, Greece, Thailand, the Caribbean, Key West, Canada, and Alaska to name a few. She was active with the Wellington Cruisers, sailing all over the world.

Gayle possessed charm, warmth, strength, steadfast determination, a kind and caring heart, impeccable beauty, bedazzled style, and grace for which she will be remembered by her many loving friends and family.

Gayle is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Deniece Stanford (Timothy) Jarvis and Wanda Lee (Terry) Porter; a brother, Earl (Faye) Goodin; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
