David Lee Thorne, 80, of Clermont, FL passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Mike Conley Hospice House. David was born on October 1, 1930 in Franklin County, NC, the son of H.J. and Polly Thorne.He was a resident of Clermont for the past 52 years and retired from the telephone industry, working in repair and installation.David was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army, and was involved in many organizations including the American Legion, Moose and Eagles.
Mr. Thorne is survived by his loving wife Mary Louise; children, Sharon Thorne Davidson and Steven Thorne both of Clermont; siblings, Alice Hawkins of Plant City, FL and Howard Thorne of Castalia, NC and 2 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Allen Thorne in 2001 and 5 siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held from 11 AM till 1:30 PM, Sunday, December 5th at the American Legion in Clermont.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778.
