MSgt David H. Carls. USAF Ret., passed away Thursday May 31, 2018, at his home in Clermont. He was with his family as his more than two-year battle with cancer came to an end. Born and raised in Allegany, NY, Dave enlisted in the US Air Force in 1953. He was stationed at Pine Castle AFB (later renamed McCoy AFB) in 1954, beginning a 64-year residence in his adopted hometown of Orlando.
Dave is retired both from Lockheed Martin, and the Air Force, where he served on active duty and in the reserves for a total of 28 years. A devoted husband of nearly 62 years, he is survived by his wife, Marlene, son David, granddaughter Emma, brother Timothy, sisters-in-law Marjory and Carolyn, brother-in-law Charles, and 11 nieces and nephews. He was loved and respected by all who knew him as a kind, patient, and generous man.
A brief service with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, on
June 8, 2018 at 1:00pm.
