Obituary

David C. Bush passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 18, 2025 at his
home in Clermont, FL. He was born on Nov. 2, 1956, in Martinsville,
VA to parents Jim and Betty Bush. Growing up, he and his older
brother Jimmy enjoyed going on many family camping trips. Those
included a six-week trip across the country in 1968 highlighted by
stays in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. There were
also several stays in Fort Wilderness at Disney World, which he
especially loved. David was active in the Boy Scouts and obtained
his Eagle Scout award in 1973. He graduated from Martinsville High
School in 1975 where he was band president his senior year. He
attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a
Bachelor of Music degree in 1980. That summer, he worked in
Yellowstone National Park at Roosevelt Lodge near Tower Falls and
lived inside the park for three months. Not long after his return to
Virginia, he began his career at Walt Disney World where he worked
for 37 years. Most of that time was spent as an audio engineer
where he worked at various locations around the Disney property
including The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Pleasure Island, The Grand
Floridian Hotel and Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness for their dinner
show Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. In 1992, he traveled to France
to work for several months to do the coordinated design and
installation of audio systems at 6 outdoor stage locations for the
grand opening of EuroDisney. Dave also worked independently at
Super Bowl halftime shows in 1994,1995 and 1996 as a system
engineer.
After retirement, Dave enjoyed playing guitar and his ukelele. He
also enjoyed spending time at the mountain house in Floyd County,
VA that he shared with his brother.
David was preceded in death by his parents James B. Bush Jr and
Elizabeth C. Bush. He is survived by his brother James C. Bush and his wife Cindy of Newport News, VA. and two nephews Wesley Bush (Hitomi) and Nathan Bush (Katie).
Funeral arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yellowstone Forever at www.yellowstone.org/ways-to-give
