David Broome

September 21, 2023, David Bruce Broome, 76, of Clermont, FL, passed away peacefully at The Mike Conley Hospice House with his beloved wife Jacquelyn (Keating) at his side. Late that night, he went home to meet his Heavenly Father.

David was born on September 9, 1947 to Lloyd and Diana Broome in Gary, IN. After David graduated from Harrison High School in 1965, he went on to study Business Administration at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

After graduating with a degree in business, he started his first job at Shell Oil Corporation as a sales manager, kickstarting a 44-year career in sales, marketing, and business administration.

In 1970, David met Jacquelyn in Indianapolis. David and Jacquelyn went on to fall in love and have 2 children, Jacob and Wendy.

In 2012, David retired and spent his time golfing, enjoying the processed foods we all warned him about, and enjoying time with his family and friends.

David was a loyal and faithful family man who once said that his family was his greatest achievement in life. He was more concerned with the love for and of family than he was with earthly trappings. He measured his success by the love he had for the people (and animals) surrounding him rather than material wealth.

David's family also includes the many canine family members he loved and cared for throughout the years who always brought a smile to his face, including Keating, his and Jacquelyn's first pet, Ted and Fred the cockapoos, and several beloved pugs: Maggie, Bit, Pawky, Bogey, Max, and Amos.

His sharp wit and intelligence will be greatly missed by his surviving family members, for he was always there with a clever joke, a well-researched solution to any problem, and an ear to listen.

David was predeceased by his father Lloyd Broome, his mother Diana Broome, and his brother Byron Broome. He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn (Keating) Broome, his son Jacob Broome (Elaine Denning), his daughter Wendy Broome, his three beloved grandchildren Shanna, Pierce, and Carter Broome (Jacob & Elaine), his sister Linda O'Connor and several nieces and nephews: Michael Broome, Margie Broome, Ayrn (O'Connor) Meyer, William O'Connor, Jeffrey Rice, and Christopher Rice.

Services will be held at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, FL on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:30 AM ET. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, an organization David felt strongly about.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, 12:30pm, at Becker Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends starting at 11:30am.
