IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darleen Rael
Carter
July 22, 1941 – January 4, 2025
Darleen Rael Carter was born July 22, 1941 and went to be with Jesus on January 4, 2025. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles Robert Carter ("Bob") and loving son, Robert Scott Carter ("Scott,"), daughter-in-law, Dawn, and only grandson, Jacob.
Darleen was the daughter of the late Florence E. and Charles F. Engel. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Il and majored in Elementary Education at Illinois State Normal University. She became a school teacher in Mundelein, Illinois before retiring and moving with Bob to Cadiz, KY, and then spending the last two years in Citrus Hills, Florida to be closer to their family.
Darleen had a love for horses, especially her horse, Apollo, and treasured her trips to the ranch with her "cowgirl" friends. She will always be known to many for the transformative impact she had on her students, friends, and especially her family. She was a compassionate, caring, precious, sweet, and hilarious woman who embodied the essence of kindness. Scott's friends growing up will always remember her selfless love as she generously opened her heart and home, creating a sanctuary of warmth and belonging even in the midst of chaos.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mom, and "Grammy." We will miss Dar, Mom, and Grammy so much but she is always in our hearts until we see her in Heaven.
