Danuta died peacefully in her sleep on March 19 in Clermont, FL. She is survived by her three children, Maria Stevens (Wm. Lowe) of Ottawa, Ontario, Michael M. Stevens (Ruth) of Keswick, Ontario, Anthony Stevens (Trish) of Clermont. Warmly remembered by her former husband, Michael G. Stevens of Clermont. She is also survived by her sister, Stefania Daliani, of Dover, Delaware. Preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Wincenty Powazki and her older siblings, Walter Powazki and Teresa Jermalinski.
Danuta was born in Lochwinowicze, Poland. She is a World War II survivor of A Forgotten Odyssey and spent 2 years in a Siberian Concentration camp. Her family were refugees in Persia and Lebanon. Ultimately, they made their way to England where she, along with her family were reunited with her father. Danuta went on to marry, receive her nursing degree and served others for the next five decades. In the late 1950's the family moved to the United States where she continued her nursing career living in various parts of the country.
