Obituary

On Monday, November 19th, at 8:20 AM Dale Lin Knoch was called home at the tender age of 74.  His wife, Elizabeth 'Liz' Knoch, had gone before him on March 06, 2015 in order to prepare for his arrival.  Aside from the love of his life, Liz, he is preceded in death by his parents Charles 'Chuck' Wilson and Bessie Wilson.  He is lovingly remembered by his sons Kirk Knoch (w/ wife Janet), and Bart Knoch (w/ wife Karen), as well as his daughter Stephanie Rainey (w/ husband Eric.)  His seven grandchildren Kyle, Jacob, Ashley, Alyssa, Morgan, Hannah, and Cadence will never forget their 'Best Buddy.'
The first characteristic that defined Dale as a person was the pride he took in his work.  He was often the first person at the office in the morning and was usually the one who turned off the lights in the evening. From his early days working at an ice cream shop in the small town of Coschocton, Ohio, through his time proudly serving our country in the United States Navy, to his time working in numerous companies as an expert in manufacturing his is a true tale of hoisting yourself up from your bootstraps.  By the time he took early retirement so that he could focus his attention on the care of his wife he had amassed an impressive resume working as a manager, VP, COO, and CEO for companies such as Container Corporation of America, McCormick Armstrong, Malnove Incorporated, Centennial Packaging, and Golden Belt Manufacturing.
Dale had a passion for fixing things and this was the second of his defining characteristics which weaved itself seamlessly with his respect for a hard day's work.  It was this belief, that a problem was merely a new opportunity to learn something, that ultimately led to his success in the business world.  Whether it was solving complex manufacturing problems, resolving tense negotiations between companies and the unions, or fixing a broken golf cart in his garage his inquisitiveness and curiosity led him to possess a wealth of knowledge that cannot be learned in any school.  He was direct, and hands on, which both his employers and his employees came to respect and trust.
Dale's third defining characteristic, which is closely entwined with the previous, in that his natural sense of curiosity led him to create close relationships with just about anyone he met.  Whether you were talking to him while waiting in line at a store, or happened to randomly run into him on the street, he treated you as a friend and was quick to strike up a conversation.  He often referred to strangers as 'friend' and that is the way he made you feel, even though you might have just met, that you were someone to be known.  Dale was a hardworking, honest, sincere, and compassionate man and we are all blessed to have known him.
A memorial service to celebrate Dale's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in High Point, North Carolina on Saturday, December 8th, time TBD.
