IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cynthia A
Jennings
June 23, 1948 – October 22, 2023
The Jennings/Gary/Ponomarev Family grieves the death of their beloved Gogo.
Cynthia Jennings, fondly known as "GoGo" to her friends and family due to her get-going nature, passed away last week at 75. She was a transcendent woman.
Professionally, Cindi excelled in selling. She sold everything from radio ads to homes to whole communities, and she loved it. Her office was adorned with warm vanilla-scented candles and handmade Disney art crafted with love by her grateful customers. Her office was adorned by a plethora of Tinker Bells, from mugs and sculptures to little notepads.
She was a computer programmer in the 60s when women were supposed to be teachers or stay at home.
GoGo surrounded herself with books on love, a subject at which she truly excelled, and cooking, a skill she lacked (except for her baked mac and cheese loaded with butter). Her zest for life never wavered, and her sense of humor remained as sharp as ever.
Cindi's love for people was as strong as her opinions. She never had enemies, an incredible testament to her character. She was a woman who saw the good in everyone and extended her love to all, much like her collection of seemingly scary dolls. From clowns to baby dolls, each held a special place in her heart, just as people did. When she managed our family's laser tag centers in Clermont and Orlando, she embraced teenagers with all their quirks and challenges. She knew their secrets, advised them wisely (though they rarely listened), defended their antics, and provided the warmest hugs, assuring all of them that they would do better next time. To everyone, she was a beloved grandmother figure.
While Cindi was born in Mansfield, Ohio, the roots of her captivating life story were firmly planted in Miami. Raised by her quiet, elegant mother, Junia (known as June), a surgical nurse in the Second World War, and her vibrant father, Aldo, a corpsman in the Second World War, who proudly brought her to his university classes as a baby, she was their only child.
In her formative years, GoGo and her tight-knit friends shared unforgettable adventures. They would sneak out, hot-wire her best friend Janice's mother's car, and cruise to the drive-in restaurant where roller-skating servers delivered their meals. GoGo's passion for crafting and projects blossomed as she taught herself to sew. She was particularly proud of her ability to transform thrift shop XL dresses into stylish outfits. Decades later, she would often reflect on growing up in a home with blue carpet, walls, and a blue couch, vowing never to surround herself with anything but her beloved green, a color her grandson Timber is obsessed with today.
Cynthia "GoGo" Jennings leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering appreciation for the stories that color our lives. While we mourn her passing, we remember to celebrate in the beautiful ways she taught us how. We will miss her with every glass of wine, every fancy bath, every creepy clown, and with every bite of mac and cheese that could never be as good as hers. In her memory, let us remember to embrace the colorful stories and never shy away from a bit of drama, just as GoGo did throughout her incredible life.
Her last act on this graceful Earth was to squeeze her husband JJ's (Jennings) hand before ascending into heaven. She is survived by her loving husband JJ; three children, Teresa, Scott, and Jason; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Mia, Trent, Holly, and Timber; and great-grandchild Lucas.
