Clyde Eugene "Gene" Sampson

August 31, 1960 – June 16, 2021

Gene Sampson was born on August 31, 1960 to Clyde and Betty Sampson in Clermont Florida. Gene was  the eldest of their five children. He attended Groveland high school and was a lifelong resident of  Mascotte, where he and his wife Colleen made a life and raised their four children. Gene was an avid  sports fan, who kept his passion alive for over two decades by coaching both his children and  grandchildren. The only thing that Gene enjoyed more than coaching, were his pots of coffee and afternoon naps.

Gene is survived by his wife of 28 years Colleen Sampson; His four children Tiffanie (Eric) Ahern, Rob  (Heather) Seaver, Michael (Laura) Sampson and Heath Sampson; His mother Betty Sampson, brother  Larry (Cindy) Sampson , sister Tammy Lindsey and his nine grandchildren.

Services will be held June 22 at First Missionary Baptist church in Mascotte. Visitation will begin at 11:30  am followed by the funeral at 12:15, with interment to follow at Empire Church Cemetery. A reception  will be held after interment at First Missionary Baptist Church.
