Obituary

On November 3, 1940 Cliffa Jo (Yancy) Shackelford was born in Amarillo, Texas, and was met
by her family, Betty Jo, C. A. Yancy, and her older sister, Georgia Bea.
On October 17, 2023, at the age of 82 years old, she was ushered into heaven to meet her Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. There also, to meet her were her loved ones: her father (C. A. Yancy),
her mother (Betty Jo), her older sister (Georgia Bea), and her younger sister (Andrea Elaine).
Cliffa met the love of her life, Billy Joe, at a church service, while he was in the Air Force,
stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base. They were married on November 6, 1959 at Grace Baptist
Church where they both were involved in church work.
Cliffa was an ideal picture of the Proverbs 31 woman; the best example of a virtuous wife and
mother. She was a devoted wife, a strong and selfless person, always putting others first. She
surrendered her heart to God as a child, and longed to become a missionary. She honored God
wholeheartedly, and served Him without reservation. She followed her husband in the ministry
for over 60 years in Texas, New Mexico, Ohio, Maine, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and
currently Florida.
When asked about her favorite pastime, her quick response - going to church. Her philosophy
for life: Trust in the Lord and be truthful at all times. Because of her testimony, many souls have
been reached for Jesus Christ all over the world. She claimed that her biggest learning
experience was having children and her claim to fame was producing three great, wonderful
Christian children.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Billy Joe Shackelford, and her three children,
Joel (Laurie) of Astatula, Florida; Dana (Vaughn) of Groveland, Florida; and Curtis (Marcia) of
Howardwick, Texas. Cliffa, known as Granny, to her grandchildren loved spending time with all.
She has left behind eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as
others that have been adopted into the family. She is mourned and remembered with love by her
brother, Steve (Lendy) Yancy of Amarillo, Texas.
