Obituary

Charles Marvin Marshall, 83, died on Monday September 9th at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares. He was a retired Pharmacist and prior owner of one the last local independent Pharmacies, Marshall's Pharmacy in downtown Clermont. Whenever he was asked, where he was from, Charlie never hesitated with his proud answer, "Clermont, Gem of the Hills, Lake County". Born in Groveland, Florida November 11th, 1929 to the late Albert Deane Marshall and Nellie Eldridge Marshall, he was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Earl, A.D. Jr., and Walter as well as his sister Nell Deane Carter. He was a graduate of the Clermont Minneola High School in 1948 where he excelled in academics as well as sports, with some of his fondest memories as being the quarterback of the Clermont football team. He was inducted in the first Clermont High School Athletic Hall of Fame, an honor he shared with his classmates, Bob Cantwell and Jack Gaines. Following the recovery from a very traumatic fall on a Great Lakes ore boat; he attended the University of Florida in Gainesville where he attended the College of Pharmacy graduating in the 1950's. He remained faithfully a Florida Gator never leaving home without his Gator cap in his possession. Locally, he was a honorary lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club where he once proudly served as its President. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clermont, where he was married to his survived wife, Hazel, of sixty years. He is also survived by two sons Deane and Chuck and two daughters Mary Anne Meeker and Melanie Waite; as well as eight grandchildren.



The funeral service for Mr. Marshall will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Clermont. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
