It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles "Charlie" Kennon, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on March 29, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family in his home in Clermont, FL.
Born on April 18, 1939, in Miami, FL, Charlie was the eldest of two boys. Though he was nearly 86 years old at the time of his passing, he remained forever young at heart, embodying a spirit of joy and energy that touched everyone around him.
Charlie proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Wasp. His service was a source of immense pride, and he continued to honor the values of duty, integrity, and service throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Deidra Kennon, and their three children, Lisa Shelnut, Kimberly Gutierrez, and Scott Kennon. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Amanda, Erin, Taylor, Tory, TJ, Mackenzie, Logan, and Andrew, as well as a great-grandfather to Amelia, with two more great-grandchildren on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Dale Kennon.
Charlie was known and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His playful sense of humor, boundless generosity, and deep kindness left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and the community. He was a man who never met a stranger, and his contagious laughter and warm spirit made everyone feel at home in his presence.
Above all, Charlie valued his faith, his family, and his country. He was a faithful member of The Church of Christ, and his dedication to serving God and others remained at the core of his life's work.
Charlie will forever be remembered for his unwavering love, infectious humor, his generosity, and the profound impact he had on those lucky enough to know him. Although he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts, minds, and spirits of his family and all who knew him.
