Charles August Horn, Jr. 72 of Clermont Florida passed away unexpectedly on May 9th.

Services are in the process of being planned and will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Charley was born in Wyandotte, Michigan to Charles and Margaret Horn on March 31st, 1951. He attended Wyandotte Roosevelt High School – class of 1969. He married Sandy Horn on June 15, 1974 in Midland, Michigan at St. Brigid Catholic Church. Charley graduated from Central Michigan University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Parks & Recreation Administration. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.  His career as the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Woodhaven spanned 25 years. He was a member of the Michigan Recreation and Parks Association.  Charley was involved in coaching youth athletics throughout his career and organized numerous community events.

Over the last few years, Charley lived to spend time with family,  especially his grandson Colton. He enjoyed going for bike rides on the West Orange Trail in Winter Garden, walking around Walt Disney World in the winter, and spending time at the cottage on the lake in South Branch Michigan during his summers.

Charley is preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Margaret Horn and his brother Roland.

Charley is survived by his wife Sandy, his daughter Hillary Ann Vetter,  son Trevor Charles Horn (Tara Christianson) and grandson Colton Horn.  His sister Charlotte Ann Bothe, Brother-in-law Bill Bothe, niece Maggie Bauer (Dean), nephew Will Bothe (Kelly), and great-nieces Emily Bauer & Kaitlyn Bothe.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers Memorials may be given to Charley's South Branch Michigan Fire Department Park Memorial Funds to help maintain South Branch Park playground and to help support community events.

The family of Charley wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to Clermont First Responders as well as the doctors and nurses of Orlando Health South Lake Hospital.
