Charles "Clayton" Gaffney, Jr., 78, Dunnellon, passed away January 15, 2012 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.  He was born April 1, 1933 in Polk County son of Charles and Ethel Woodard Gaffney.  He served in the US Navy and worked as a citrus grove caretaker.  On August 11, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lillie Roberts in Polk City.  His son Michael Gaffney preceded him in death as did his brothers Elton, Ronald and Russell Gaffney.

Surviving is his wife, Lillie; children Richard (Debbie) Gaffney and Brenda (Jason) Brickett all of Vero Beach; Teresa (Ronald) Bearden, Preston, GA; Deborah (Carl) Counterman of Ft. Pierce and James Gaffney of Dunnellon; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and sisters Lillian Stewart of Lakeland; Ruth (Tom) Fitzsimmons of Orlando and Elaine Burgos of Clermont.





The Funeral Service for Clayton Gaffney will be held at 10:30AM Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Green Pond Baptist Church.  Reverend Todd Holden, Pioneer Baptist Church will officiate.  Burial will follow in Green Pond Cemetery.  Visitation will be from  6-8PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
