Charles (Chuck) Durkin, 79, passed peacefully on the evening of Sunday, July 7,
2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Chuck was born in Milford, CT on December 14, 1944. He spent the majority of his
life in Southeastern Florida.
Chuck worked as Senior VP at Bank Atlantic in Fort Lauderdale for 25 years and
an additional 5 years with the City of West Palm Beach.
As an avid NFL fan, Chuck was a 20 year season ticket holder of The Miami
Dolphins, from the Orange Bowl Stadium days through the move to Joe Robbie
Stadium.
After retirement, Chuck and his wife of 55 years, Jackie, relocated to The Kings
Ridge Community in Clermont, FL, where they made many wonderful and
much loved friends.
Chuck was an active golfer and former President of the Kings Ridge Mens Golf
Association. He participated annually in the management of the Mike Conley
Cornerstone Hospice Golf Tournament, an event and cause that meant very
much to him.
Chuck was an excellent lifelong chess player and collector of rare coins.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Durkin; son, Todd Allen Durkin and
his wife Betsy Durkin; s
isters, Kathy Browning (Brother-in-law Carl), Lori Durkin Carr; brother, Kevin
Whetstone (Sister-in-law Bobbe); as well as countless Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Whetstone; father, Charles
V. Durkin; and brother Mark Whetstone.
