IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cathy Sue
Watters
May 28, 1955 – January 2, 2021
Cathy Sue Watters was called home on January 2, 2021 at the age of 65.
Cathy, or mom as she was known to so many was raised in Palmyra, MO before meeting and marrying the love of her life John. They settled in Joliet, IL where they proceeded to raise 4 children together as well as all their "adopted kids". Cathy was known to have a kind heart, a funny sense of humor, and an open door for whomever needed it. She loved to cook, bake, play Bingo and hit up the slot machines. Liked the White Sox, and Bears…although, this was more of a toleration for her husband and kids. She was involved in her children's sports and could be seen in a bowling alley or the softball and baseball fields when her kids were younger. Later she found delight and pleasure in being a grandma and recently a great grandma. She always had a special place in her heart for kids and loved them all unconditionally. She found so much joy in watching her grandkids dance and could frequently be found at the numerous dance competitions zooming around on her scooter to catch the many dances. Her enjoyment could also be seen at their school concerts and frequent performances. Nothing made her prouder than to see the accomplishments of her entire family.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 46 years John, her children Dessiree (Victor) Figueroa, Erika Smith, Justin Watters, and Lauren Watters. Her grandchildren Nicolasa Aldava, Victor Figueroa, Ricardo Figueroa, Geovani Figueroa, Hailey Figueroa, Xaiver Watters, Christian Watters, Antonio Watters, Maria Smith, Vernie Smith, and her great granddaughter Alessia Reign Lantigua. She is also survived by her brothers Carl Smith, Don Smith, and Bill Smith, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Masako and Larry Smith, her brothers Michael and Dennis Smith, as well as two grandchildren.
Cathy was loved by all who met her and will leave a legacy of her nature and kind-hearted spirit. In lieu of flowers the family asks that those that knew her continue to show kindness to others and pay that kindness forward.
