Catherine Barbara (Flaherty) Stauder, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister & daughter went to be with Jesus on February 9, 2013. First generation Irish born, she was born May 6, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA to Thomas Flaherty of Lettergunnit Co. Galway and Mary Ann Duffy of Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. She married 1st Lt. Pete Stauder on Thanksgiving Day 1966 and they spent the next 30 years traveling with the Air Force. She held both a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Duquesne University. She loved to teach and did so professionally in Japan, Texas, California, Ohio and Florida. Catherine was a writer (newspaper and children's stories), a quilter, rock collector, fantastic cook and avid reader. A devout Catholic, she was active in the Ladies Guild, St. Therese Circle, Ladies of the Knights of Columbus, Youth Religious Education and Ministry to the Sick. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Peter G. Stauder, Clermont, son Peter A. Stauder (Tampa), daughter Catherine M. Stauder (Clermont), grandkids Amethyst, Jagan and Hope Loftus (Clermont), brother John (Cathy) Flaherty, brother Thomas Flaherty and sister Margaret (Fran) Zalewski all of Pittsburgh, PA, sister Mary Brigid (James) Phillips of Raleigh, NC and 15 nieces & nephews.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
