Obituary

Carroll Eugene Pomplin, 89, of Clermont, FL passed away Monday, November 4, 2013. Carroll was born on July 1, 1924 in Westfield, WI the son of Elmer and Hazel Pomplin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star during his time in the service. After his military service he graduated from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with a degree in Education, also earning his Master' Degree in 1970. He had resided in Clermont since 1993 after retiring from teaching Elementary Education. Carroll was a life member of the VFW Post #5470 and American Legion Post #173 both of Whitewater, WI, member of D.A.V. Blackhawk Chapter 39 of Fort Atkinson, WI, life member of both the National Education Association and Wisconsin Education Association and was a member of the Clermont-Minneola Lions Club. He was a Methodist. Carroll is survived by his children, Randy L. Pomplin of Slippery Rock, PA, Richard E. Pomplin of Astatula, FL, Peggy Jo Pomplin of Wauatosa, WI, Sue E. Pomplin of Centreville, VA and Amy L. Barker of San Jose, CA; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.



Services with military honors will be held at 11AM Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
