IN LOVING MEMORY OF

CAROLYN DAWSON WHEELHOUSE
July 28, 1937 – August 21, 2025
Carolyn Dawson Wheelhouse, 88, entered into rest Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Carolyn was born July 28, 1937, in Charleston, WV to Guy and Ruth Dawson. Her career was in Civil Service in the Personnel Department for the Dept of the Navy beginning in Albany, Georgia and ending in Florida. After 36 years, Carolyn retired with prestige and accommodations. She was the wife of Donald Wheelhouse and they just celebrated their 55 wedding anniversary.
An avid golfer all the way up until she turned 81, Carolyn never passed up on a good golf outing. She loved all card games and was also an exceptional bridge player. There was never a dinner party or brunch that Carolyn would not pull together or attend. Strong bonds were made with her neighbors and she thoroughly enjoyed lending a helping hand to anyone. Her wittiness, exuberance and stubbornness are one that she will surely be remembered for as well as being larger than life in her barely 5 foot frame.
Although she never had children, Carolyn had an extremely close relationship with her niece Catherine.
Carolyn is survived by her husband: Donald Wheelhouse; nieces Catherine Mallon (Michael); Pamela Pate; cousin Patty; great nephews Devin Dawson Taitague (Lindsay); Daniel Dawson; Bruce Kilroy (Kim) and great niece Marybeth Knapp (Derek).
She was preceded in death by her brother George Robert Dawson, great nephew Damien Gregorio Taitague and nieces Ruth Elizabeth Dawson and Deborah Jo Brunson.
A private celebration of life will be coordinated with family and close friends at a later date.
