IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Kay
Tripp
December 4, 1939 – June 27, 2024
Caroline Kay Tripp was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 4th, 1939. Her brother Ronnie said that, as a child, she had never ridden a bike but had loved to roller skate. Kay did not like corn on the cob but loved chocolate milk. She was a straight-A student and a Majorette in high school.
She is survived by a brother; Ronald Moore and wife, Janie and two children: Michael (son) and Vickie (Daughter). Grandchildren: Michelle (from Michael and Barbara), Mercedes, and Camille (from Vickie). Great grandchildren: Kenneth Michael (from Michelle and Robert), Serenity and Stetson (from Mercedes and Melissa), Avery (from Camille and David).
Kay met and married Al on July 15th, 1959. So begin her life of adventure and travel.
Kay and her family made the first significant move from Florida to Langdon, North Dakota. There, Kay was always up for an adventure: horseback riding, cooking pheasant that Al shot, and being a Girl Scout leader.
After a short move back to Florida, the family moved to Texas, where Kay continued to learn new skills. She took classes on cake decorating, a family favorite, and canning. To this day, there may still be a jar of figs in the pantry.
Kay often had to be both mom and dad as Al had to move early to the next job. She kept the household together, dealing with her sometimes challenging teenagers. Because of her, the family made the trip from Texas to Germany without issues. "Home is wherever you are" was something she always said.
Once in Germany, Kay came into the focus of her life, being of service to others. She was a volunteer kindergarten teacher and enjoyed creating ceramic figurines. She made multiple nativity collections and a set of Temple dog figures that were a perfect Christmas gift for one semi-adult son.
Kay and Al returned stateside for a few years to enjoy the birth of their first two grandchildren, then off to England for their last overseas home.
Kay found the best places for high tea in England and scored many beautiful antique furniture pieces at local boot sales. She and Al took many day trips to historic golf courses so he could play golf and she could enjoy the countryside.
They finally settled on their "forever" home in Clermont, Florida. There, she became the social director of their life, participating in neighborhood musicals, dining out clubs and Sorority, and volunteering at the Orlando Health South Lake Hospital. Kay always was a balance of social and service. She was honored as one of the Healthcare heroes for those skills:
Kay truly lived a FULL life, gathering friends and experiences. She never waited until "later" - always now. She will never be forgotten by her family, friends, or anyone she helped out along the way. With all love, we will miss you, Mom.
The family please asks for no flowers, but memorials in Mrs. Tripp's name to the Mike Conley Hospice House, 2100 Oakley Seaver Dr., Clermont, FL 34711.
