IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carlos
Garrandes
December 28, 1954 – December 25, 2024
Carlos Garrandes, 69 died 25th, December 2024 at his home in Clermont, Florida. Only three days before his 70th birthday.
Carlos was born on 28th, December 1954 in Havana, Cuba to Jose and Sara Garrandes who have predeceased him. The Garrandes family who also includes his sister, Isabel left Cuba in the early 60s and moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Carlos' father made neon signs and his father was able to connect with a business man in the United States who assisted with getting the family out of the country. Carlos was five when they moved and he started kindergarten. He had to learn to speak English in school and became the family spokesperson until his parents' passing. The family moved several times. They spent a lot of time in Porto Rico until his father retired. Then they lived to Miami, Florida.
Carlos was married to Maria in the 70s and they moved to Orlando, Florida where Carlos was able to find work. They have two children together, Odalis (Paul) and Antonio (Sherrie). They separated in the early 2000s.
Carlos had a successful career as an Engineer, Property Management in the Downtown Orlando, Florida market for approximately 30 years. He spent most of his career at 111 N. Orange Avenue and worked for 4-5 different companies within this building. His career did finally advance into other locations but only for a short period of time. He retired in 2020.
Carlos married Frances 23rd, March 2007. Carlos was a huge St Louis Cardinals baseball fan and the reason for the date of the marriage is because the honeymoon was in Jupiter, Florida for spring training and so began many travels to watch the St Louis Cardinals play baseball.
Carlos also loved to travel to Europe. He and Frances traveled to Spain, France, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and most recently to celebrate Carlos' 70th birthday in Portugal. These were some of the best days of his life. Carlos started planning his bucket list trip in 2023 and was very excited to go.
Carlos was a good person and once you knew him, you had a friend for life. He will be missed.
