As a young man, he began his military career at the age of 16 during World War II. He served as an Army paratrooper assigned to the 11 th Airborne Division and was deployed to the Pacific Theatre. He attended Florida Southern College and obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and graduated with honors. After college, he started a second career teaching math at Valencia Community College and Meadowbrook Junior High School. The fall of each year brought his favorite past time the Miami Dolphins and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a great story teller and shared many stories from his life. He loved playing cards, poker, and golf. The challenge of playing sudoku and learning new technology was still a favorite in his later years. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
