IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Byron Christopher
Lamont
December 5, 1947 – October 25, 2024
Byron Christopher LaMont, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 25, 2024, leaving a legacy of kindness, love, and inspiration that touched everyone he met. Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, on December 5, 1947, to Dave Levi and Anne Kathryn Nelson LaMont, Byron grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of his four brothers: Dwight, Chris, David, Emery, and one sister, Patience "Cookie". During his youth, Byron developed an intense sense of generosity and integrity that would define his entire life.
Byron served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. This pivotal time in his life led to a serendipitous encounter with the love of his life, Pamela, while ice skating one evening in Jacksonville, Florida, while he was stationed at Cecil Field Naval Air Base. From that day forward, their bond grew into an extraordinary love that would span 55 beautiful years of marriage. Their relationship was a model of devotion and partnership, admired by all who knew them.
After his military service, Byron continued his college education, graduating from the University of North Florida, and began his professional career in Jacksonville/Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, where he and Pamela raised their family with unwavering love and dedication. Later, Byron and family relocated to Dallas, Texas, as Southwest Division President of Gourmet Awards Foods/Tree of Life, where he became known for his compassionate leadership, tenacity, and excellence. Byron led with kindness at the forefront, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and friends alike.
As a father, Byron was unparalleled in his devotion to his children, Byron Scott LaMont and Kelly Mackenzie LaMont Arditi. He was always there for them, offering support, guidance, and a sense of security that only he could provide. His children and grandchildren were deeply cherished by Byron, who became affectionately known as "D-Dad." His beloved grandchildren shared an unbreakable bond with him, and he delighted in watching his family grow, always providing them with boundless love and encouragement.
Byron's kindness was matched only by his authenticity and selflessness, qualities that made him the best husband, father, D-Dad, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for.
Anyone who ever met Byron knew, with his proudly worn Gator gear, that he was an unwavering supporter of the University of Florida Gators. Over the years, he enjoyed countless football games, a few championships, and, in general, making fun memories with family and friends.
Byron will forever be remembered as a loving and supportive father and the best friend anyone could have. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who admired him, and a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the lives he touched so profoundly.
Byron is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; son, Scott (Diane); daughter, Kelly (Robert); and grandchildren, Madeline, Julia, Ally, Gavin, and Byron. He is also survived by his brothers, David (Cindy) and Emery (Debbie); sister, Patience LaMont West (Dave); brothers- and sisters-in-law, Donna LaMont, Pat Waterhouse (Don), Robert Goodman (Karen), Moses Toole (Lisa), Theron Cates (Angie), and Lisa Toole Ettlerle; and a host of nieces and nephews.
