Blanche J. Claggett, 85, Clermont, passed away February 14, 2011 in Cumming, GA. She was born August 4, 1925 in Birmingham, AL daughter of Henry Jowers & Virginia Davis Jowers. On November 13, 1943 she was united in marriage to Albert M. Claggett, III in Washington, DC. She was a retired bank clerk and a central Florida resident from Maryland since 1976 relocating to Clermont in 1999 from Deltona. She was past president of Prince Georges County Volunteer Fire Association Women's Auxiliary. As the result of the death of her son Albert Marshall Claggett, IV in 1978, COPS (concerns of Police Survivors) was started and she was active in this organization. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clermont. Surviving is her husband of 67 years, Albert; daughters and their spouses Penny & Steve Leclercq of Ball Ground, GA & Pamela & Henry Rose, Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Albert, David, Summer & Joey; great- grandchildren Michael, Jeffrey, Bailey, Clark, Colleen, Kyle, Lyla, Violet & Makayla & sister Janet (Hugh) Cason, Hampstead, NC.
The funeral service for Blanche Claggett will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in the Becker Chapel. Pastor Ben Bond will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
