BILLY GENE "BG" JONES

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Billy passed away peacefully at South Lake Hospital in his home town of Clermont, Florida with his family present.

Billy was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 3 rd , 1938 to Trixie and James E. "Pete" Jones. The family later moved to Tennessee where Billy attended school, graduating from Gallatin High in 1957. Joining the Air Force in 1958, Billy served as a Radar Operator in Newfoundland and South Louisiana.

Not long after his marriage to Nancy Burgett in 1962, Billy began his career as an engineer in the nuclear power industry. This allowed them to travel and live in many southern cities. Browns Ferry in Athens, Alabama, Sequoyah in Chattanooga, Tennessee, eventually retiring from Entergy in Mississippi, only to start his new career as a small business owner of Port Gibson Art and Gift Gallery. Billy loved Civil War history and photographed local buildings as a hobby and for the Chamber of Commerce. He also loved football and has a large collection of Tennessee Titans merchandise thanks to his adored niece Jennifer Jones.

Billy is survived by his daughter Debbie Kenny and husband Garry of Montverde, Florida, son Mark Jones and wife Janet of Andalusia, Illinois, granddaughter Alexandra Kenny and grandson Patrick Jones. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Jones, brother Max Jones, parents James and Trixie Jones and daughter Kathy Jones.

Services will be held in late spring when family and friends can safely gather. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Billy's name.
