IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bill G
Doran
December 2, 1938 – April 11, 2023
Bill Doran, 84 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 with his family by his side. Bill was born December 2, 1938 in Kingsport Tennessee. He married the love of his life Carolyn Doran on December 22, 1957. They had just recently celebrated 65 years of marriage before Carolyn passed on January 6, 2023. Bill served in the Navy for 7 years and was on active duty for 2 years. Bill worked as a chemical engineer at Eastman Kodak, for nearly 30 years before retiring. Upon retirement Bill and Carolyn operated a very successful restaurant, Midway market and deli for many years, where they hosted many Nascar drivers over the years. Bill and Carolyn eventually settled in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at Ocean Lakes Family Campground, where they spent many years. Bill was very proud of the homes he built at Ocean Lakes, and was so happy that his children and grandchildren spent many years there making wonderful memories. Bill was well known for his abilities to fix anything and everything. As his great grandson, Gavin would say he was truly a genius. He was always there for his family...a firm foundation, a sturdy hand to hold onto through the storms of life. He never looked for praise, he was never one to boast. He will be missed by many, but the family has comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loving wife Carolyn, who he missed so much. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Daniel Doran and Beulah Cannon Doran; His loving wife, Carolyn Doran; cherished son-in-law, Bill Horner; brother, Finley Doran; brother, Donnie Doran; brother, Randall Doran; brother, Cecil Doran. Bill is survived by his children; son, David Doran; daughter, LaDonna Horner; grandchildren, Natalie Gardner (Sam), Whitney Horner, Kayla Hughes; great grandchildren, Gavin Stupicic, Deacon Gardner, Tate Gardner, Tiara Hughes, Taliya Hughes; brother, Sherrill Doran; his cherished dog, Hachi, and many nieces and nephews.
